To start the new year, we enjoyed a Professional Training Day coming together as the Fierté family. This began with an opening address from the CEO focused on the essence of our Trust and how this permeates through all that we do. The four pillars that form the foundation for our Trust are: We care, We are brave, We leave no-one behind and We celebrate individuality. 

These were used as the basis for creating an agreed set of curriculum principles involving all teachers and teaching support staff. In parallel, administrative staff, catering staff and members of Our Pride, Our Joy met separately to explore issues pertinent to their roles. 

All teaching staff also met in subject groups to explore long-term curriculum plans, case studies of units of learning and subject challenges. This was followed by a carousel where ten topics for discussion were shared led by a cross-section of staff. These included Learning outside the classroom, Child Mental Health: Minimising Anxiety and Promoting Happiness and Closing the vocabulary gap.

Feedback from the day was very positive; staff valued the opportunity to be together as the extended Fierté family in addition to the professional learning gained.

We are already looking forward to January 2021 and our next event where we will be welcoming the staff from Wilnecote Junior and Heathfields Infant schools.
